2024 marks Girls on the Run-Chicago’s 25th Anniversary, a milestone that wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible community. Since 1999, we have supported more than 105,000 girls in third through eighth grade, and it’s all thanks to the dedication of our thousands of volunteer coaches, partners, and community members. 

Together, we support girls’ mental and physical health through programming that creatively integrates running and social emotional learning. Our Coaches teach them skills like how to build their confidence, stand up for themselves and others, and solve conflict, giving them the tools to navigate adolescence into adulthood. 

This year, we will serve 5,000 girls in 7 Chicagoland counties, with a focus on under-resourced communities.

We’re honoring our community’s collective accomplishments and our vision for the future with the concept “Together, We...” Our theme encapsulates the power of unity, recognizing that when combined, every thread in our diverse community weaves something extraordinary and enduring, no matter the role you play.

Here’s a preview of what's coming up: 

	Together, We Thrive: Girls on the Run-Chicago Featured on the Wintrust Mural March 1-April 31 | 1735 N. Ashland Avenue, Chicago, IL We are thrilled to be featured on Chicago’s iconic Wintrust Mural Building, visible on the Kennedy Expressway. To honor our community’s collective accomplishments, we designed the mural around the concept “Together We…” The mural, created by Jess Snively, artist and Girls on the Run-Chicago’s Communications and Marketing Manager, represents the Girls on the Run experience from start to finish. Each panel brings to life a stage in the Girls on the Run journey, and its bright colors and whimsical illustrations truly represent Girls on the Run’s spirit of joy, playfulness, and inclusion.
	Together, We Move: Girls on the Run-Chicago 5K  Saturday, May 11 | Arvey Field in Grant Park On May 11 in Grant Park, the girls come together with their coaches, family members, and our broader community to participate in a 5K, celebrating all of their collective superpowers. They put into action the skills they’ve learned to reach a big goal they’ve worked toward all season, which boosts their self-confidence.
	Together, We Shine: Girls on the Run-Chicago’s 25th Anniversary Gala September | Location TBD Our 25th Anniversary gala will honor our community of girls, families, coaches, governing board, donors, and partners, celebrating how far we’ve come and creating a future where girls can boldly shine.
