Become a Coach

Coaches are the heart of our program! Each season, two or more volunteer coaches inspire and guide a team through our tried-and-true curriculum. If you're ready to directly make an impact, then this role is for you.

Become a junior Coach

Junior Coaches are needed to inspire the next generation! Our Junior Coach program is for high school girls aged 16 to 18. Beyond serving as a role model to program participants, Junior Coaches work alongside Coaches, strengthening their leadership skills and gaining a sense of belonging and purpose.

Fall 2024 Volunteer Opportunities

Girls on the Run-Chicago 5K Volunteer Opportunities

This season our sites have the option to attend a CARA Go Run or to host their own Site-Based 5K at their school or neighborhood park. We are looking for volunteers to help with tasks including event set-up, clean-up, passing out medals, and cheering for the girls! Events typically last ~2 hours.  

CARA Go Run 5Ks

  • November 2nd, 9AM, at Humboldt Park
  • November 9th, 9AM, at 63rd Street Beach
  • November 16th, 9AM, at Horner Park (CARA Go Run's Turkey Trot!)

Group Opportunities

Are you part of a group or organization that wants to make an impact on our community? Girls on the Run would love to have you get involved with our program. Here are a few ways you can make a difference while working together.

  • Volunteer together at a Girl on the Run 5K event – from cheer teams to water stations to handing out medals at the finish line and more – there are numerous ways for you to help bring this joyful end of season celebration to life!
  • Support with one-day volunteer opportunities.
  • Volunteer for or financially support a team for a season.
